Republicans in the state of Georgia passed the Election Integrity Act, a law that implements a wide range of voting restrictions that run just short of literacy tests and poll taxes. The restrictions seem designed to suppress Democratic voters, in particular black ones. President Joe Biden called the law “un-American”. Stacey Abrams, a former Democratic candidate for governor of Georgia, said it was “a redux of Jim Crow”.
