Society changes under our feet while we’re opining about other things. When we finally notice the change, we’re inclined to be bugged by it since it caught us unprepared. Sociologists dutifully add up the downsides.
But when unexpected paradigm shifts solve problems for us, we just forget we had the problem rather than praise the shift. I want to remedy this and praise remote work. As we learned from the pandemic, many of the abrasions of the sexist workplace disappear when women leave … the workplace.
