Donald Trump often celebrates the heroism of pro-slavery activists, while disparaging proponents of abolition and desegregation. But now his pravda team is trying to cover up the anti-abolition bent of Edgar Allan Poe, the great deviant, goth poet, short-story luminary, and icon of America’s Dark Romanticism.
Weird. The guy despised the Enlightenment, grew up with slaves, married a 13-year-old, and thought human greatness was long gone. What’s not for Trump to love?
