The Black Pill

Content warning: The so-called black-pilled ideology, which I’ll explain here, can include advocacy of extremist politics, suicide, and violence, from mass murder to genocide. Also, the material here is bleak—but the essay ends on a high note. I promise.

You probably know something about the reigning political pharmacopeia, with its foundational pills: blue and red. 

The probably-expired metaphor comes from The Matrix, in which a mentor character offers a naïf a choice: “You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill—you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” 

In hindsight, it’s misleading that the mentor says you “wake up” with the blue pill and remain in “Wonderland” with the red. In the idiom of today, it’s the reverse: Blue-pilled people are seen to live in cushy contentment, but asleep and blind to the cold realities of the world. Red-pilled people, by contrast, can see the cold realities, chiefly that liberals are satanic.

Red-pilled people, by their own account, uniquely can perceive the twisted antics of a group that is variously imagined as the big banks, a cabal of pedophiles, woke academia, the media, liberal elites, coastal elites, a communist or neoliberal or RINO conspiracy, Davos, George Soros, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Dr. Fauci, Big Tech and Big Phama.

Red-pilled ideology carries plenty of anti-Semitism and anti-Black racism, but for the moment the red-pilled reserve their biggest animus for middle-aged professional white women whom they seem to see as snobs, simps, prigs, wokes, and sexless.

In the words of Tucker Carlson, “One-hundred percent of the people I’m mad at are well-educated white liberals,” and particularly the “38-year old female white lawyer with a barren personal life.” To this imagined attorney he recently shouted, “I hate you!”
