A new level of cruelty.

We should never have called them czars. Whose idea was that?

The word, from Caesar, means supreme ruler of everything, forever. In Russia, three czars you might have heard of are Ivan the Terrible, Catherine the Great, and the very last one, Nicholas II. Nicholas was slaughtered with his family by bolsheviks in 1919.

At least Nicholas got to stay with his family. Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, never would have allowed it. As the “intellectual father” of family separations—amd a favorite of both Obama and Trump—Homan used to worry that people would consider him evil for abandoning babies and toddlers.

But then he lost that shame and crowed about his masterpiece policy.

Now Homan is running ICE and intellectually-fathering something new. It’s a plan to run his ICE goons like Orcs through the city of New York. The big idea is to arrest on impulse and en masse. This time, Homan says, his plan is to round people up based on “physical appearance.” So that sounds reasonable.
