The New York Times has endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Unlike The Washington Post. Unlike The Los Angeles Times. Unlike USA Today.

Those terrified publications opted to say nothing about the preferability of democracy over fascism.

So The New York Times is already way ahead.

However.

Today’s big effort to dunk on Trump—and slay his allure once and for all—is almost laughably muddled. It sounds decisive. It is concise. It uses active verbs!

But what does it mean?

Read that paragraph over as if you had English as a second or third language. 21.6% of Americans don’t speak English at home.

Then read it again though you had never read or written College Essay English. Sixty-two percent of Americans don’t have a college degree. They don’t know the College Essay Dialect.

If English is so your first language, you so speak it at home, and your English is so collegiate that you can’t imagine not knowing the phrase “wreak havoc,” then pick a language you know a quarter as well. Imagine these words from The New York Times are in Spanish, French, Korean.

Would they make any sense to you? No? Let me explain, then.
