So this is delicious. The big American AI companies just issued a plea for government regulation.

“We request that the U.S. government support an international effort to develop the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace the frontier of automated AI development,” the petition said.

You read that right. These companies are suddenly panicking that AI is moving too fast. And they want the government, of all things, to impose a speed limit.
